DataWind is a company manufacturing and marketing wireless web access products, originally founded in Montreal in 2001 by brothers suneet and raja tuli, now based in London . It operated its business only in UK till 2010. In 2010 it won Indian Government's proposal (human resources ministry) to develop low cost tablet or computer for Indian students and population. DataWind along with Indian Institute of Rajashthan developed student version called as Aakash, which is manufactured by Indian company Quad. Government gave it's assurance to purchase 10 millions aakash which costs only $35 or Rs.2,500 to distribute it for free among poor students.
